Paying it forward

Our kickoff meeting for the 2019-2020 season was truly special.

September’s guest speakers offered two different perspectives of our Annual Camp Scholarship.

First we heard from the generous scholarship donors. The family of Mary Ann Olcott-Kuether, represented by daughters Pam and Liz and granddaughter Janelle, shared memories from Mary Ann’s paintings. Mary Ann often painted iconic scenes of our Village of Menomonee Falls. Personal photographs showed Mary Ann’s love for creating art and involvement with the Guild.

Prepared with sketchbook and canvas, scholarship recipient Ella Blowers described her summer camp experience learning the art of graffiti at UWGB. Ella, now a senior at MFHS, emphasized how amazing and unique this immersive camp was and how grateful she was to be awarded the opportunity.

Both the camp scholarship donors and the recipient enjoyed the Guild meeting. It truly was beautiful tribute to the Olcott-Kuether family and their donation on behalf of Mary Ann coming full circle to meet the benefactor.

Members closed out the meeting by sharing reactions to summer art shows they participated in as well as displaying their own artworks—recently completed or in progress.
