Bringing the Southwest to the Midwest

June Vaughn graciously accepted our invitation to show us her wares at our November meeting. A California native, June has been a ceramics artisan for over 50 years. She traveled the northwest coast and was fascinated with native totems. That tribal inspiration from the Southwest is shown in the embellishments of her pieces—in the found objects she incorporates like stones, shells, feathers and antlers; as well as the patterns she carves and colors into the clay. We are grateful to Sarah Hunt-Frank for her suggestion to invite this fabulous guest artist.
